Egypt receives the first pilgrims to the path of the Holy Family
An Italian delegation of Vatican officials arrived in Egypt on the first Christian pilgrimage to the “Holy Family Path”.
The Italian delegation, which includes 52 tourists, visited on Thursday the city of Wadi Natroun, one of the most important stations of the “Holy Family Journey.” The pilgrims received official figures and Christian religious leaders in the monasteries of Wadi Natroun, where Jesus and the Virgin stayed long during their journey. in side Egypt.
The delegation, which includes the president of the province of Lazio and the Bishop of Viterbo and the bishop of the Egyptian Church in Rome and Turin, visited the monastery of the Syrians, and will continue his tour of the other monasteries and religious shrines in the city.
The event is the first of its kind in the field of religious tourism in Egypt, after Pope Francis of Egypt was recognized as part of the Christian pilgrimage to Mecca. He declared that May 2018 was the beginning of the inclusion of Egypt in the Vatican pilgrimage program.
The visit to the Italian delegation headed by representatives of the Vatican is the first official pilgrimage and the third pilgrimage to religious pilgrimage in Egypt after the visits of the delegations of the Philippines and India.
The visit will last for 5 days and the Italian delegation will visit some of the historic archaeological sites of the 3,500 km long Holy Family.
The Holy Family Journey is an important journey in which the Holy Family from Palestine was brought to Egypt via El-Arish in the Sinai (northeast of Egypt) and arrived in Babylon (central Cairo today).
